Comments Due Today Draft of FIPS-199

You have until Thursday to comment on FIPS-199. FIPS-199 is a new process for categorizing non-classified IT systems in nine different risk "boxes" drafted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

According to Ron Ross, NIST's director of the National Information Assurance Partnership, FIPS-199 "is part of the NIST effort to give federal agencies guidance on the level of security controls they need in meeting the classic security areas of Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability."  more...
